My childhood was spent predominantly on the coast of the low country, running barefoot among the oaks and palmettos. It was an enchanting life for a young girl; I could go on and on about that wonderful childhood in the deep south but shall touch on a few things regarding the art side of me.

I credit my appreciation to fine art due my parent's good example. My father was a gifted drawer as a child and painted in oil during a career in the military. His love of painting carried over into a professional career after retirement. My mother was a pianist at an early age and took up painting for pleasure. She is quite knowledgeable in objet d'art and decorating and encouraged any interest I had as a child. The arts were a positive constant in our home, and though I always enjoyed drawing it wasn't until 2002 that I began painting.
After a brief introduction to Russian Impressionism, I went on from there on my own developing my style through study of the human figure and experimentation. I generally prefer canvas as I find it more playful and forgiving.
There is a special relationship between art and music much the same as with science and math; it is all part of this complex but marvelous system we live in. Painting to compelling music for me is crucial ~ it highly influences the outcome of a piece. If I have no music when painting the flow is not there and I remain frustrated.
My husband and I enjoy art, music and design; he is extremely gifted in many areas, and keeps my head on straight. He also makes the best first cup of coffee every morning for me, I am eternally grateful for his goodness.
