I would have hated to be in that boat when the bottom dropped out haha. It is a masterful painting and a peek into a day in the artist's past, like a snapshot. I wonder how much embellishment painters did. Something to think about.
Yes, quite an impressive cloudline. I am going to guess as little as possible embellishment, as much as needed to finish a piece after everything is anew with a very different light. Thanks for your comment.

I am totally unfamiliar with the Russian masters but will certainly be doing some research. Now tina, how did you get Dubovskoy's permission to publish? Hopefully it is now in the public domain but then I guess someone had to take the photo. When does copyright expire?

It is a tricky wicket, it came via Wikimedia Commons which stated it is a database of 16,291,022 freely usable media files. What exactly that fine print means may haunt me one day, however as there was no other source mentioned to seek permission from, I used the image. My previous post was to make bloggers aware of new technology that exists, regarding copyrights, for all of us to consider. I am certain if anyone is sued it will be me for the use of less than a handful such as this, and not Matthew Innis (my personal hero) for the hundreds he's posted in an effort to share great art with others.
