Embracing Simple Composition - MinC

"When written in Chinese, the word 'crisis' is composted of two characters - one represents danger, and the other represents opportunity." ~ John F. Kennedy
48x36 acrylic on canvas.
Bach: Air for the "G" String was the predominate music played during painting.

Tina,
This composition is beautifully balanced and inviting. I love all the "empty" space.

I've never heard the JFK quote before, and I didn't know that about the written characters...

Interesting because, to me, this painting seems very loaded, or something. Quite the opposite of empty space when I look at it -- in fact, it makes me take a deep breath (like when you're being stared down?)...

But then, what do I know?

It is quite beautiful.

Margaret, thank you for your words about balance and empty space! Now if I can only get that in real life - ha!

Kelly, wow, very interesting thoughts! I love that perspective and I love how art affects people in different ways, so thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Margaret and Kelly, thank you both for taking time out to visit this blog. Tina

Wow,another great painting! Loooove the colors....agree with the others, something about the negative space...can't quite put my finger on it, uh...well, you just make it work.

Thank you, Helen. It really helps to get these responses as one never knows how a painting will be received. It is not easy, as you all know, to 'come up' with something in abstract when it is nothing but paint and canvas you are working with. Challenging for sure, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't!

Hey, Tina. I don't blog as I am a poor typer! Maybe one day, so thanks for the suggestion earlier. I love this painting, and you have captured simplicity at its best. Anita B!

Tina, Beautiful abstract pieces, and especially interesting to read peoples' responses to them. The power of art is in the emotion that it evokes. Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement you leave on my blog. Much appreciated. Best.
